
IHS welcomed three recruiters from the U.S. Marine Corps to Future Friday this afternoon. CPL Glenn Wells, along with SSGT. Cameron Hadley, discussed with several students the qualifications to join the Marines while LCPL Marvin Martinez explained to several students the benefits of being a Marine.

Today, our seniors attended a job fair at the Landers Center. It was a great opportunity to learn about jobs available to high school graduates and career paths available to college bound students.

Independence High School senior Austin Eddie plans to study medicine and pursue anesthesiology. To provide Austin with some experience, Career Coach George Harris arranged for him to job shadow today at Highland Hills Medical Center in Senatobia. Austin is seen using using a blood pressure machine on Anita Fisher, an employee of Highland Hills.

Congratulations to Maddie Mayer on her acceptance to Murray State's Academic Program! Maddie plans to pursue a degree in Public Relations and Journalism while being part of the school's award winning rodeo team! Maddie is a member of our school newspaper staff, president of the FFA, and member of the LadyKats soccer team! Maddie is our first senior from the Class of 2026 to share her college acceptance with us! What fun it was to be there when she got the email today during our newspaper class!
