Independence High School welcomed Sergeant First Class (SFC) William Moski to all three College & Career classes today. SFC Moski, an 18 year veteran of the U.S. Army, pointed out the numerous job opportunities available by serving in the Army. He also explained how the GI Bill provides a veteran the opportunity to obtain a degree from a college or university.

Independence High School welcomed several members of the Army National Guard to all three College & Career classes today. Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Quin Martin, along with Private First Class (PFC) Luis Martinez and Private Arkenya Armstrong, explained how the National Guard can prepare students for various careers in addition to other educational opportunities. Taylor Newson, who will graduate from Independence High School in May, expressed to Mr. Harris recently an interest in real estate. To allow Taylor some exposure, he arranged for her to job shadow with four ladies at Capstone Realty in Senatobia. Independence High School welcomed Daryl Ricks to all three College & Career Readiness classes today. Mr. Ricks, a 1981 graduate of our school, explained how he was able to apply the definition of entrepreneurship when he created, launched, and ran his own granite installation and mulching businesses. He also engaged one-on-one with students regarding their plans after high school and closed out his presentations explaining his role as a Tate County Supervisor from 2020-2024.

Independence High School welcomed Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Cameron Hadley of the United State Marine Corps to all three College & Career Classes today. SSgt Hadley, a native of Looxahoma, presented to the students career and education opportunities plus explained the NROTC Scholarship. SSgt Hadley also commented on his experiences as a Marine, from basic training to living overseas to now being a recruiter.

Coach Watts' Family Dynamics students are discussing Personality, Character Development, and Self Esteem. Students are engaged, exploring, and learning in a new activity, Positive Medallions, Students decorated the front of their Medallions to represent their personality. Independence High School welcomed Chad Pulliam to all three College & Career Readiness classes today. Mr. Pulliam, the manufacturing site director at Bryce Corporation in Memphis, explained how they manufacture bags and wrappers for products such as Cheetos, Fritos, Lays, Starburst, and Dr. Teal's Epsom Salt. He also presented the numerous employee benefits working for Bryce and allowed students the opportunity to inspect the bags and wrappers manufactured by them.

Independence High School welcomed Paris Jamison, a 2017 alumna, to all three College & Career Readiness classes this morning. Ms. Jamison, a licensed funeral director and embalmer with Funeral Community Directors, explained the requirements needed to work in this career as well as duties and responsibilities. She also explained the embalming process and answered numerous questions regarding this unique profession. Also welcoming Ms. Jamison was her mother, Lontina Jamison, who teaches physical education at East Tate Elementary.
