We are proud to announce that senior Angellyric Stevenson has already begun her military career. Angellyric signed with Sgt. Martin and the MS Army National Guard in March and started training immediately. She will leave for basic training in June. After completing basic training, she will enter AIT training to become an Automated Logistical Specialist. We are very, very proud of this young lady!

On Tuesday October 14, Jenny Hurt of NWCC met with our seniors and early graduates in the cafeteria. Ms. Hurt explained the different career programs offered by NWCC in addition to tuition, student life, housing, and scholarship opportunities. Thank you, Ms. Payne, for arranging this presentation for our students.


Independence High School welcomed Felicia Brownlee and Laura Meredith of Guaranty Bank to both of our College & Career Readiness classes this morning. Ms. Brownlee and Ms. Meredith explained the different accounts offered by banks in addition to the importance of budgeting and credit. Thank you, Mr. Harris, for arranging this presentation for our students.

Our Girls and Boys Cross Country teams competed in the Pontotoc XC Invitational today. Carly Stricklen received a TOP FINISHER T-shirt. The other fastest times for our girls' team were Daniella Najera and Journee Jackson. Our boys' team fastest finishers were Tanner Seal, Parker Brimmage, and Hayden Garrison.
