No practice, no problem. Junior High Basketball did some team bonding with a team scavenger hunt today while the gym floor is being prepped for the homecoming festivities! The girls were challenged to think and work together to solve riddles and find objects used in games and practice…. and they also got a little cardio too 🤣😉. Winners of the challenge were Shelbie Helton, Alaysha Walker, Akeila Mays, Destiny Woods, and Kassidy Riley.
It's finally homecoming!
IHS had a successful Leadership Conference in Cape Girardeau MO.
Our Being Better Beta Team(Townsend, Amiyah, Hailey and Haylee) and Collaboration Connection Team (Townsend, Levi, Addie and Hailey) will both have the opportunity to compete at National Convention next summer. Our Beta Blitz team did a good Job too (Olivia, Germiah, Cheyenne, Bentley, & Macie) Great Job IHS Betas!
Indy basketball got underway yesterday with our annual Red vs. Black game. Coach Coleman's LadyKats beat Coach Martin's ladies by four points. Coach Farmer and Coach Gorman's teams ended in a tie!
Regardless of the score, we saw lots of great basketball! In just two quarters of play, four players hit double digits: Kylan Higgenbottom scored 16 points, followed by Jaylan Jackson with 15, Jhabri Martin with 13, and KB Burgin with 12! Other standouts included Brannyah Moore and Kenyon Dowl (both scoring 9), Maddy Cathey with 8, and Dalanna Mays with 5.
We are looking forward to Indy basketball starting in full force at the Jamboree on October 31st!

Happy Athletic Director Week to Coach Clanton! The football booster club and the future Mrs. Clanton wanted to make sure he felt the love at school today. Thank you for all your hard work and support for our student-athletes at IHS. We appreciate everything you do for our teams!
To wrap up the week, Independence High School held an exciting Golden Duck Hunt that had everyone scouring the halls. Teachers and staff searched high and low for hidden golden ducks, each holding a special prize upon discovery. It was a fun, high-energy way to celebrate Friday and bring a little extra joy to the end of the school week!
Gather up some good outfits for next weeks homecoming festivities!
Once again, Kyle Blount and his staff at Athletico Physical Therapy have opened up their facility to help our Wildcats become the best Wildcats they can be! Karis Pace and Kaleb Umberger are interested in careers in physical therapy. Karis and Kaleb have been athletes throughout high school and seen what physical therapy can do for athletes. Today, they had the chance to see what their future work days could look like. We appreciate Kyle and his staff for making opportunities like this possible for our students!

Our Wildcats would like to give a huge shoutout Kells Lucius, John Hanley, Kevin & Shannon Hatton, The Way Truth Discipleship Ministry, and Bryant Lane Cowboy Church for a great meal and some inspiring words. The meal was delicious and the fellowship was even better. We are so appreciative of the support for our students!
Ms. Blackburn's 7th grade Cyber Foundations students have been studying Career Clusters. Today, they began working on career posters entitled “What I Want to be When I Grow Up.” Students are researching potential careers they might be interested in. They are then creating posters to illustrate important and interesting facts about their chosen careers and will present their findings to the class.

Happy IT Appreciation Day! A huge thank you to Philip Casey and Ben Crockett for keeping IHS connected, powered up, and running smoothly every single day.
Whether it's fixing Wi-Fi connections, improving classroom tech, or managing hundreds of devices behind the scenes, we appreciate everything you do to keep our school operating without a hitch. Thank you for your hard work and endless patience!

We are deeply saddened by the loss of IHS student and Varsity Boys basketball player Kentavious Doyle. The teachers and coaches who knew Kentavious best have commented how sweet, respectful, and playful he was. He had a one of a kind personality that was sure to put a smile on your face. His physical presence will be missed, but his spirit and personality will always be cherished in our classrooms, hallways, and locker rooms.
